AI SEO Agency: Make Your Business Easy for AI Answers to Cite
Generative engine optimisation (GEO) makes your business clear, consistent and quotable for tools like ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews. We fix the business details, pages, structured data and third-party mentions those tools draw on, then check whether you are cited with the same set of prompts every month. Nobody can guarantee a mention, and we do not.
Fixed monthly price, agreed in writing before any work starts.

Where we look first
- Your details disagree across the web
- The answer is buried
- Nobody else mentions you
Why is a business that ranks on Google missing from AI answers?
Because an AI answer is put together differently from a page of results. A tool may search the web, read a handful of pages and summarise them, and it can only use what it finds and understands. Three gaps come up most often.
Your details disagree across the web
A different name, description or service list on your site, your Google Business Profile and your directory listings. When sources conflict, a tool has less to go on when it describes you.
The answer is buried
Pages that open with a slogan and reach the point in the fourth paragraph. A passage that answers a question on its own is easier to quote than one that only makes sense with the rest of the page.
Nobody else mentions you
AI answers often draw on third-party sources: reviews, directories, articles and comparison lists. If your business only appears on your own site, there is little outside evidence to work with.
How AI answers choose their sources
Most AI search tools answer in two steps: they retrieve pages from a search index, then write a summary from what they found, sometimes with links to the pages they used. What the model learned in training also shapes the answer. The exact rules are not published, so we work on the parts that are visible and can be tested.
Retrieval
If a page is not in the index a tool searches, or its crawler is blocked, the page cannot be used. Classic SEO and crawler access decide this step.
Selection
From the pages retrieved, the tool picks passages that answer the question. Clear, self-contained answers with stated facts are easier to use than vague ones.
Agreement
Several independent sources saying the same thing about you give a tool more to work with than your own site alone. This is why mentions on other sites matter.
What we change on and off your site
We change five things: how consistently your business is described, how your pages answer questions, your structured data, your mentions on other sites, and whether AI crawlers can reach you. Our AI SEO services start with an audit that shows which of the five is weakest.
Entity consistency
One name, one description and one list of services, the same on your site, Google Business Profile, directories and social profiles. Conflicting details are corrected at the source.
Answer-first pages
Key pages rewritten so each heading is answered in the first sentence or two, with facts, prices and limits stated plainly. Those passages can be quoted without the rest of the page.
Organisation, service and FAQ schema built from facts that appear on the page, so machines read the same thing people do. We never mark up claims the page does not make.
Being named on relevant third-party sites: industry directories, review platforms, comparison articles and press. These are earned through outreach and digital PR.
AI crawler access and llms.txt
We check robots.txt and your CDN or firewall settings so AI crawlers such as GPTBot and PerplexityBot can reach the pages you want them to, and add an llms.txt file that points to your key pages. llms.txt is a proposed standard, so we treat it as cheap housekeeping, not a ranking factor.
How we measure AI visibility
We measure AI visibility by running the same fixed set of prompts every month in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews, and recording whether your business is mentioned, cited or linked. The prompts are agreed with you at the start and stay fixed, so a change over time means something.
A fixed prompt set
Questions your buyers are likely to ask, such as 'best [service] in [town]' or '[your product] vs [competitor]'. Agreed once, then run every month.
Mentioned, cited or absent
For each prompt we record whether you are named, whether your site is linked as a source, and which competitors and sources appear instead.
Trends, not single runs
AI answers vary from one run to the next, so one month on its own is noise. We report the trend across months, next to your Search Console clicks and enquiries.
GEO vs classic SEO: what is different
GEO and classic SEO share most of their foundations. The difference is the finish line: SEO aims for a ranked link that someone clicks, and GEO aims for your business to be named or cited inside an answer, which someone may read without clicking at all.
Shared: pages that can be found
Crawlable, indexed, fast pages with clean structure. AI tools that search the web often draw on the same search indexes as everyone else.
Shared: authority from other sites
Links and mentions from relevant, credible sites help in both. The difference is that an unlinked mention can still count in an AI answer.
Different: how success is measured
Mentions and citations in answers, checked with prompt tests, instead of positions in a rank tracker.
Different: how pages are written
More weight on self-contained answers, stated facts and consistent naming. Less on repeating keyword variations.
If your site has indexing problems or ranks for very little, start there. Our SEO services page covers the full plan.
When GEO is the wrong place to start
GEO is the wrong place to start when the basics are missing or the expectations cannot be met. We would rather tell you on the first call.
- Your site has indexing or technical problems. Fix those first, because AI tools cannot use pages they cannot reach
- You want a guaranteed mention in ChatGPT. Nobody controls that, and anyone who promises it is guessing
- Your customers do not use AI tools to research what you sell. Classic SEO or Google Ads will do more
- You need enquiries this month. AI visibility builds slowly
- You want AI-written pages published in bulk. That adds pages, not reasons to cite you
Frequently asked questions
The questions we get asked most before a project starts. Can't find what you're looking for?
Ask us directlyGenerative engine optimisation (spelt optimization in the US), also called GEO, LLM SEO or AI SEO, is the work of making a business easy for AI tools to find, understand and cite when they write an answer. It covers consistent business details across the web, pages that answer questions directly, structured data, mentions on third-party sites and access for AI crawlers. It is built on top of classic SEO, not instead of it.
No. Nobody outside OpenAI controls what ChatGPT says, and the same question can get a different answer from one day to the next. What we can do is remove the reasons a tool would pass you over, give it clear and consistent facts to work with, and measure each month whether you are being mentioned. Be wary of any agency that guarantees AI mentions.
We agree a fixed set of prompts with you at the start, made of the questions your buyers are likely to ask, and run them every month in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews. For each prompt we record whether you are mentioned, whether your site is cited as a source and who appears instead. Answers vary between runs, so we report the trend over several months, not a single result.
No. Many AI tools retrieve pages from search indexes before they answer, so a site that is hard to crawl or ranks for very little is hard for them to use too. GEO adds a layer on top of classic SEO: answer-first writing, consistent business details and third-party mentions. For most sites Google search is still the larger source of visits, so we do not neglect it.
Fixes such as unblocking AI crawlers can be picked up the next time those tools crawl the site. Changes to pages and listings usually take weeks to months to show in answers, and third-party mentions build over months. We record a baseline with the prompt set in the first month, so every later change is measured against it.
We quote after a first call and a look at your site, because the work depends on how much of the groundwork is already in place. You can start with a free written audit, delivered within two working days. If the site needs classic SEO first, full SEO plans start from £1,000 a month. SEO retainers have a three-month initial term, then run month to month with 30 days' notice.
llms.txt is a proposed standard: a plain text file at the root of your site that lists your most important pages for AI tools. It is cheap to add and we include it, but there is little public evidence yet that the major AI tools rely on it, so we do not sell it as a ranking factor.
