Note: this is a checklist to help you spot common problems, not legal advice.
Step 1, in your browser (about five minutes). Open your website in a private or incognito window, so nothing is remembered from earlier visits. Don't click anything on the cookie banner yet.
a) Press F12 (Mac: Cmd+Option+I) to open the developer tools, click the Network tab, then reload the page. Type each of these into the filter box in turn and note which ones show any rows: google-analytics, googletagmanager, facebook, doubleclick, clarity, hotjar, tiktok, linkedin. Then open the Application tab (Firefox: Storage), click Cookies and copy the cookie names you see.
b) Look at the cookie banner. Is there a Reject button on the first screen, as easy to press as Accept?
c) Find your privacy notice (usually linked in the footer) and copy its full text.
d) Open every form on the site (contact, quote, newsletter, checkout). Note any tick box that is already ticked, and copy the wording next to each tick box.
e) Copy your footer text and the text of your Contact page.
Step 2. Paste everything below into ChatGPT or Claude, with your answers at the end.
